Many factors go into making an event successful. Proper planning is most important. Having adequate and well-placed restroom facilities can have significant impact on the attitude and enjoyment of the attendees. This, in turn, affects attendance and profitability of the event.
Providing too few restrooms can be detrimental to
the bottom line. Always remember, a bad experience with portable

To calculate the number of restrooms needed for a particular event: 1.) Determine how many hours the event will last. If it is multiple days, use the longest day. 2.) Determine how many people will attend. If there are multiple days, determine the peak day. 3.) Use the chart to calculate the number of portable restrooms needed for adequate sanitation conditions. Note: If alcohol is being served, add 15% to 20% more restrooms. Add one Extra Large restroom per 20 portable restrooms, or a minimum of one for events open to the public. Adequate hand washing should also be provided with restrooms in all food service areas. |

•The average restroom usage time per visit for men is 54 seconds and women is 75 seconds. •The average water usage per person per day is 65 gallons. •The average water usage per person per day is 16.2 gallons using flush toilets. •Flush toilets use 40% of the water consumed in an average home. •A portable restroom facility uses 90% less water than a conventional flush toilet. |
